But the passion of the Prince Elector was not restricted to art and porcelain. He supplemented his lawfully wed wife with a dozen mistresses, whom he would then send into exile when the affair had run its course. He is said to have fathered 354 children, most of them inevitably illegitimate. So some pretty convincing arguments are necessary for this city to qualify as the ideal wedding location! But Dresden can indeed make a very strong case, not least because of August\u2019s flair for baroque splendour. So yes, you can go ahead and book that ceremony, and not necessarily in the municipal registry offices. In the heart of the city are several historic buildings that are ideal for the purpose. What couple planning to tie the knot could say no the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.frauenkirche-dresden.de\/en\/weddings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Frauenkirche<\/a>, to&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.schloss-albrechtsberg.de\/feiern-tagen\/eheschliessung\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Schloss Albrechtsberg<\/a>&nbsp;or the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.grosser-garten-dresden.de\/en\/meetings-celebrations-weddings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Palace in the Grosser Garten Park<\/a>? And what other venue could furnish a marriage certificate with more provenance than&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.stadtmuseum-dresden.de\/heiraten-im-museum\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Dresden City Museum<\/a>?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Dresden and its surroundings constitute a beautiful couple in their own right. In the castles of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.barockschloss-rammenau.com\/en\/meetings-celebrations-weddings\/getting-married\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rammenau<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schloss-weesenstein.de\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weesenstein<\/a>&nbsp;or in the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.schloss-wackerbarth.de\/englisch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saxon state winery at Wackerbarth Castle<\/a>, a festive ambience and a magnificent landscape come together in perfect harmony. And what could be more fitting for a bride dressed in white to make her vows in the rooms of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.albrechtsburg-meissen.de\/en\/home\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Albrechtsburg<\/a>&nbsp;in Meissen (late Gothic style), where August first commissioned the production of \u2018white gold\u2019, i.e. porcelain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Rings can also be exchanged in the Prince Elector\u2019s country retreat at&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.schloss-moritzburg.de\/en\/meetings-celebrations-weddings\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Moritzburg<\/a>&nbsp;or at Pillnitz, where you have the choice of the romantic chapel&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.maria-am-wasser.de\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cMaria am Wasser\u201d<\/a>&nbsp;at the Elbe river or the&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.weinbergkirche.de\/index.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Weinbergkirche<\/a>, which stands majestically among the vineyards. But if you are too impatient to plan a special journey to Pillnitz, Radebeul or Meissen, you can plight your troth on board a&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.saechsische-dampfschiffahrt.de\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Saxon Steamship Company river cruiser<\/a>.
