Looking at the Dresden Zwinger from Felix Bar
Above the rooftops of Dresden: with guaranteed sunsets, cool drinks and a view of the Zwinger, Felix is one of the best places to spend balmy summer evenings. Photo: Felix
The most famous rooftop bar in Dresden is Felix, located in the central Postplatz square – and rightly so. Up here, on the sixth floor of a modern city quarter with shops and apartments, you can enjoy a picture-perfect view: the Zwinger palace lies directly below, while the sky above slowly turns pink. On your plate: unusual dishes made with market-fresh ingredients. And in your hand? Preferably a well-mixed drink to enjoy as the sun sets.

Sip fancy cocktails at the Twist Bar

Style, service, view: at the Skybar Twist, bar culture meets panoramic views of the Frauenkirche dome illuminated at night. Photo: Inside Meliá
The wide selection of classic and unusual cocktails and Saxon wines, such as those from the Roter Schuh winery, is also top notch. Photo: Inside Meliá
The Twist Bar is also centrally located and at roughly the same height. Below it is the 4-star lifestyle hotel Innside by Meliá. The range of cocktails and long drinks on offer is correspondingly exclusive. If the weather is not so pleasant, the Twist is also a good place to visit. Here, you do not sit outside, but behind huge windows with a direct view of the dome of the Frauenkirche

It’s worth the climb here too: from the roof terrace, you can look directly at the striking dome of the Frauenkirche. The wine list is extensive, and the cuisine focuses on fine, well-thought-out dishes and light compositions – perfect for an enjoyable evening above the rooftops of the old town.

Added to this is a fantastic view, as the roof terrace offers a unique panorama of Dresden and the Elbe region, which is best enjoyed with a cool drink in hand.

Dresden’s highest beer garden in the dome restaurant of the Yenidze
The former Yenidze tobacco factory looks like something out of One Thousand and One Nights. Under the dome, it houses a restaurant and, one floor below, Dresden’s highest beer garden. Photo: Thomas Rötting (DML-BY)
The Yenidze, designed in 1909 in the oriental style of a large mosque, is a unique architectural masterpiece in Dresden. Directly beneath the striking glass dome of the former cigarette factory is the dome restaurant, which extends over two floors and offers a breathtaking view of Florence on the Elbe. In the warmer months, Dresden’s highest beer garden invites you to linger. Here you can enjoy not only the unforgettable view, but also a varied cuisine featuring Saxon classics and international specialities.
