Dresden Elbland is a region for explorers and connoisseurs - this is also reflected in the extraordinary culinary landscape. Three restaurants that have been awarded a Michelin star are at home here. Three more are well on their way to the coveted star. We present the six best addresses for fine dining.
When the best chefs in Dresden invite you to the table, eating becomes a culinary journey of discovery. French elegance meets Saxon down-to-earthness, regional flavours combine with international ideas to create surprising taste experiences. What they all have in common is a flair for good flavour, a play with textures and the courage to create their own signature dishes. Three restaurants were awarded the coveted Michelin star in 2025 for their outstanding culinary quality. Three more are on course for stars.
If you are looking for an unforgettable fine dining experience, you should book in good time. Because these six exceptional restaurants in and around Dresden are rightly in high demand.
1. Gourmet & cosiness in the Genuss-Atelier
In the Genuss-Atelier, star chef Marcus Blonkowski cooks with ingredients from the region according to the motto: You eat with your eyes. Photo: CARISO – Carina Sonntag Photo (DML-BY)
At Genuss-Atelier in Dresden’s Neustadt district, Michelin-starred chef Marcus Blonkowski brings great cuisine to a relaxed atmosphere. Together with his sister Nicole, he runs the charming restaurant in a stylishly restored sandstone vault – rustic in ambience, sophisticated on the plate. Nicole welcomes guests with warmth and a fine sense for wine: her selection comes exclusively from the Elbland and Saale-Unstrut regions and perfectly complements her brother’s creative compositions.
Marcus Blonkowski cooks what inspires him – seasonal, straightforward and full of respect for good products. Instead of culinary theatre, he focuses on intense flavour, precision craftsmanship and a clear signature. Those who wish can choose à la carte or be guided by the surprise menu with four to eight courses.
You can tell immediately that the food served here is not average: Blonkowski was once a junior sous-chef at the two-star restaurant at the Palais Coburg in Vienna. His dishes are skilfully prepared, technically precise and yet pleasantly unpretentious – a cuisine with depth and character that rightly deserves its star.

2. Heiderand: Newcomer in the starry sky with long tradition

The Heiderand is a tradition – and at the same time the newest star on the Dresden gourmet scene. In June 2025, the family restaurant was awarded a Michelin Guide star for the first time. When Martin Walther took over the restaurant from his parents in the coronavirus year 2020, he radically changed the course. The restaurant, located on the edge of the Dresden Heath and serving tea dances and home-style cooking, became one of the most innovative restaurants in the city on the Elbe. Menus such as ‘wasser&weide’ and ‘acker&beet’ tell of the roots as well as a strong vision for the future of the restaurant, which has been in the family for four generations and whose origins go back to Martin Walther’s great-great-grandparents and the year 1904.
Martin Walther experienced everyday life in the catering industry from an early age. He learnt about the world of gourmet cuisine – characterised by modern, international influences – in Dresden’s Michelin-starred restaurants. On his way to becoming a top chef, he cooked at the Genuss-Atelier and Caroussel, among others. He has combined these experiences with the Silesian-Saxon cuisine of his parents and grandparents to create his very own concept of modern Michelin-starred cuisine with Silesian influences. He has already been awarded the Bib Gourmand twice for this. The ultimate accolade came in June 2025: the first Michelin star!

3. International cuisine at Elements
Perfection on the plate: elements was able to retain the Guide Michelin star for Dresden in 2025, eleven years in a row. Photo: elements
Restaurant elements in Dresden’s Neustadt district thrives on contrasts: a DELI meets fine dining, elegance meets nonchalance and international cuisine meets regional ingredients. Stephan Mießner and Martina Starovičová-Mießner have managed to defend their Michelin star at elements since 2014 – even though the star was never intended. A Michelin-starred restaurant was never the aim; the two hosts simply wanted to create a place to meet and enjoy good food. The elements combines two restaurants under one roof: ‘regional high cuisine with a cosmopolitan twist’ in the contemporary DELI and classic French cuisine with a modern twist in the fine dining restaurant.
Stephan Mießner initially cooked at various locations in Europe and South Africa before finally returning to his home on the Elbe. He uses his impressions from all over the world to give new impetus to his interpretations of the culinary signature at elements. The fact that the restaurant also has an eye for aesthetics is not only evident in the expressive presentation of the dishes. The industrially elegant ambience of the elaborately renovated factory halls is also timeless, tasteful and has been a real eye-catcher and refreshing contrast in the otherwise baroque cultural metropolis on the Elbe for fifteen years.

4. French charm at Atelier Sanssouci
In the gourmet restaurant Atelier Sanssouci (1* Michelin star, 2 red toques in Gault Millau & 7 pans in Gusto) – the former banqueting and garden hall of Villa Sorgenfrei – the kitchen team led by head chef Sven Evers creates fine culinary delights for discerning connoisseurs. Photo: Villa Sorgenfrei
Villa Sorgenfrei is located to the north of Dresden in the Radebeul villa district. The charming 18th century country estate is home to a hotel as well as the Michelin-starred restaurant Atelier Sanssouci – the playground of young chef Sven Evers, who won his first laurels at the Romantik Hotel Fischerwiege in Ahrenshoop. His creations not only delight hotel guests, but also attract connoisseurs and gourmets from all over the world. A visit to the restaurant is like a trip to the South of France. The villa’s historic banqueting and garden hall shines in 18th century splendour – with a stucco ceiling, murals and chandeliers. In summer, the terrace with a view of the French garden invites you to enjoy your meal.
The French flair is also reflected on the plate: classic French, with a modern twist. Sven Evers and his team rely on a manageable number of high-quality ingredients and prefer to go deep rather than wide in terms of flavour. The culinary delights are presented in keeping with the historical charm of Villa Sorgenfrei – classic, with playful details.

5. New meeting place for good taste in Patti’s delicatessen canteen
Creative creations on a new level, aperitifs in the kitchen and chatting with the chef – at Mario Pattis, hospitality is written in capital letters. Photo: Arnold Krieger

30 years ago, Mario Pattis was the first gourmet chef to win a Michelin star in eastern Germany. After stints at e-Vitrum in the Gläserne Manufaktur, he opened his own restaurant Mario Pattis Feine Kost in 2024 – with an adjoining bistro Patti’s Feinkost und Kantine. Centrally located in Dresden’s baroque quarter, the culinary hotspot combines fine dining with fair prices.
The bistro offers homemade delicatessen and lunch dishes from Monday to Friday, which are also available to take away. Many ingredients come from regional producers and selected colleagues. Mario Pattis himself is at the cooker in the restaurant. Known for his innovative approach to high-end gourmet cuisine, he serves a three-course menu with a selection of starters. The main course can be meat, fish or a vegan option, followed by dessert or cheese.
Appreciated for his hospitality, Pattis often greets his guests personally in the kitchen – charmingly accompanied by an aperitif – before delighting them with his creative creations.

The Caroussel Nouvelle in the Hotel Bülow Palais elegantly combines the worlds of bistro and gourmet restaurant. Originally known as Dresden’s oldest Michelin-starred restaurant, it merged with the legendary Bistro Bülow in 2021 and now offers both classic à la carte dishes and a fine dining menu. Although the restaurant lost its Michelin star as a result of the new concept, it remains an excellent address for fine dining in a stylish ambience.
The Caroussel Nouvelle is characterised by the signature style of head chef Sven Vogel. His cuisine is ‘contemporary and cosmopolitan’ – a sophisticated combination of French bistro classics and traditional Saxon dishes. He creates modern interpretations of regional cuisine. His dishes are not only impressive in terms of flavour, but also visually: they are reminiscent of colourful still lifes that are almost too beautiful to eat. But the pleasure is worth it – the artful presentation hides true explosions of flavour.
